Waukesha, Wis. (October 17, 2023) – Carroll University proudly announces the transition from the silent to the public phase in its groundbreaking, comprehensive Campaign aimed at securing a monumental $100 million in support. This pivotal moment marks a significant leap forward as the institution seeks to fortify its future through robust funding for capital projects, endowment and crucial operational support.

The decision to move into the public phase follows a highly successful silent phase as Carroll garnered substantial commitments totaling $59 million from dedicated supporters, underscoring the widespread enthusiasm and belief in the institution's mission and vision. The total raised to date includes a new $10 million commitment to support construction of the new School of Business, a $5 million gift to support an addition and renovation of Van Male Field House and several $1 million plus commitments.

“We are extraordinarily grateful for the alumni, parents and friends who have provided support during the silent phase of our Campaign. These gifts collectively signal to our broader community that the goals we have set for this Campaign are achievable and worthy of broad support,” said Victoria Dowling, vice president for institutional advancement.

Key Objectives of Pioneer Driven: The Campaign for Carroll University

Capital Projects
The Campaign will allocate a significant portion of the funds to propel essential capital projects. These initiatives will not only enhance the physical infrastructure of the institution but also contribute to creating cutting-edge facilities that foster innovation and collaboration.

The Carroll University School of Business is a seminal step in developing of a world-class School of Business on the campus. The state-of-the-art facility will offer business and technology classrooms to enhance current offerings and allow Carroll to expand into new, in-demand areas. The building will also feature a data center and a technology-infused auditorium to accommodate events and speakers. The 57,029 sq ft., three-story facility will bring the School of Business together with the departments of mathematics, computer science and information technology – a dynamic union of disciplines that will set Carroll graduates apart. Finally, this facility is a critical requirement if the University is to achieve accreditation for the School of Business by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), which would make Carroll one of only two private schools in Wisconsin with this distinction.

A much-needed addition to Van Male Field House is anticipated to accommodate a rise in student-athletes on campus. Originally built when the number of students participating in intercollegiate athletics at Carroll was approximately half of the current 630 student-athletes who compete today, Van Male requires an expansion to meet the needs of students participating in 23 intercollegiate sports at Carroll. This addition will consist of two multipurpose courts that will include netting that can be lowered from the ceiling to accommodate activities like batting and pitching practice for baseball and softball while allowing for indoor practice court space for men’s and women’s tennis, volleyball and basketball. In addition, a state-of-the-art weight training facility, aerobic exercise facility and athletic training facility will be added. The renovation will include an Alumni Suite for viewing indoor activities in the Field House and outdoor events in Schneider Stadium, in addition to the renovation of coaching offices and conference room space. While all the spaces in the 45,200 sq. ft. renovation will be primarily designed for use by student-athletes, the facilities will be open for intramural use and use by the general student population, faculty and staff.  Some modest renovations of other spaces in the building are also likely.
Carroll recently acquired three new facilities contiguous to the campus. Funds will also be raised to renovate these structures, allowing for the growth and expansion of programs in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Health Sciences.

Endowment
A substantial portion of the Campaign funds will be directed toward building and strengthening the institution's endowment. This long-term investment will provide a sustainable source of funding for key objectives, including student scholarships, endowed faculty and staff positions and endowed program support, ensuring financial support for Carroll’s ongoing commitment to provide students with the ability to attend Carroll while enjoying an excellent educational experience.

Operating Support
Recognizing the vital role of day-to-day operations, a portion of the funds will be allocated to support the institution's operational needs. This includes sustaining and expanding critical programs, attracting and retaining excellent faculty and staff, and maintaining a dynamic learning and co-curricular environment during their Carroll experience.

Excitement and Momentum
"The success of the silent phase has laid a solid foundation for the public phase. We are entering this new stage with gratitude for the tremendous support we have already received and a shared vision for the future,” said Dr. Cindy Gnadinger, president of Carroll University. “This Campaign is a testament to the collective commitment of our community and to the power of shared goals and vision for the future of Carroll University."

Community Involvement
The institution invites the entire Carroll community, including alumni, friends, and supporters, to join this historic endeavor. Every contribution, regardless of size, will play a crucial role in achieving the $100 million goal and making a lasting impact on Carroll’s future.
